Project Still I Rise, Inc., The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), and Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD), along with other community partners, are combining resources to conduct an African American Male Academic Bowl (AAMAB) in a tournament format. The AAMAB will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2010, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Bill J. Priest Institute - 1601 S. Lamar Street – Dallas, TX 75215. The registration fee is $100.00.
The AAMAB is an academic tournament that invites twenty teams to compete. Each team will consist of three (3) students and one (1) coach. There are two student categories: 4th – 5th grades and 6th – 7th grades. This academic tournament is designed as a single elimination competition that will quiz two teams at a time within a designated time frame. The winners from both categories will meet in the championship round. The winning teams will receive special awards.
